That definitely sounds like a scam. That’s sounds more like you giving them money, then them giving you a loan.

My sister was just approved for a loan with the same group and previously was referred by her friend and everything went as said.

People must ask this same question 2,000 times a day.
IF YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO PAY ANYTHING UP FRONT, IT IS A SCAM.
There is no such thing as a “security deposit” on a loan. They are not going to “put” anything at all in your “account”.
If you gave them your banking details, I suggest you close that account immediately because they will empty it.
You never ever have to pay money up front in order to obtain a loan. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/tmar…

The real Countrywide is one of the largest lenders in the country, but they would NEVER ask you to Western Union any money to them.
Someone is perpetrating fraud. At a minimum, throw it away. If you’re in the mood, save the stuff and contact the consumer fraud division in your state’s Attorney General office (you can look this up - I can’t help you because I don’t know what state you live in).
If it was a phone call, and you have caller ID, write down the number, date, and time, and contact the AG’s office.
But for goodness sake’s, don’t wire them a penny.

I have heard of Nationwide, but not a Countrywide. You should check it out to make sure it is legitimate before sending any money. Read over that contract over and over if you want, but definitely have them checked.

It sounds like a scam to me. Never send money to anyone that you are not sure of. Countrywide is a real legit company, but 1300.00 down on a personal loan… i don’t know about that. I did not know that you put money down on a personal loan. A mortgage loan yes. Be careful! Someone could be using Countrywides name.
